Ipod Updates Part 2
I got the iPod working! Very exciting news for all you blog readers out there, I’m sure.
Anyways, I bought another broken iPod Mini, hoping that the things broken about it were different than the one I was trying to fix. Turns out, the gamble paid off! The new iPod Mini had a screwed up case, and I had to literally hit it with a chisel to disassemble it, but the case was one of the things I was definitely keeping from the old ‘Pod (it’s pink, so you know I gotta keep it). Inside the new iPod, the motherboard and clickwheel were all fine. I took apart the clickwheel and swapped the faceplate for my old one, to keep the pink lettering, then swapped all the new innards into the old case. After booting it up, it all seemed to work fine until I unplugged it, when the battery quickly drained. Luckily, the battery from the old iPod was easily swapped with the new one, and that held a charge great! Now I’ve got a custom pink iPod Mini with 4gb of storage, soon to me something like 64gb when I get around to buying a new hard drive for it. I’m not a snob when it comes to music formats, though, so I think I can get a lot of crappy mp3s on this thing before I run out of space.
Also, if anyone is interested in a broken iPod mini motherboard, and broken (but repairable) clickwheel, a bad battery, or a perfectly good screen & drive, hit me up. I’ve got it all in a little labeled baggy on my super-messy desk.
